It’s a Memorial weekend tradition: The Alma Highland Festival & Games, happening May 25-26 on the campus of Alma College, is one of the largest Scottish festivals in the Midwest. Noted for its piping and drumming competitions and has had over 30 Pipe Bands performing and competing. The athletic competition has professional athletes on Saturday and amateurs on Sunday. Other events include 5K and 10k run with over 900 runners/walkers, a grand parade on Saturday (10:30 am) and art & crafts fair. click here for more info

The Coleman Veterans Memorial 3rd Annual "United by Sacrifice" Concert will be performed Sunday May 26 (noon) at the Coleman Veterans Memorial. This year will feature country music recording artist John Michael Montgomery, with special guests, Bobby Niemi and the Beef Cakes, Mandi Layne and the Lost Highway, Bullhonky Deluxe & Steve Armstrong and the 25 Cent Beer Band. The Great Lakes Regional and Michigan State Balloon Championship happens May 23-26 at Frankenmuth River Place. Watch professional balloon pilots as they challenge each other in various competitions, scheduled flights, and the Balloon Glow event where pilots tether and illuminate their balloons in the evening hours.
